Manama-based charity donates bus to support blind community transport

A Bahrain-based philanthropic organisation has donated a dedicated bus to support transport services for a local association for the blind, in a move aimed at improving mobility and access to social programmes for beneficiaries.

Fawzi Ahmed Kano for Community Initiatives provided the vehicle to the Friendship Society for the Blind as part of its ongoing social responsibility efforts focused on humanitarian and community support.

The handover ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both sides, including Talal Fawzi Kano, board member of the donating organisation, and Hassan Al Halabi, president of the beneficiary association, along with staff and officials.

Improving access and participation

The newly donated bus is expected to support the association’s daily transport needs, helping ensure safer and more comfortable travel for beneficiaries as they attend programmes, events, and services.

It is also expected to strengthen participation in community activities, enabling greater social inclusion and engagement for blind individuals registered with the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Fawzi Ahmed Kano, chairman of the community initiatives organisation, said the donation reflects a wider commitment to supporting institutions working with people with disabilities.

He said the initiative aims to ease daily challenges faced by beneficiaries and strengthen their participation in community life.

“We believe in supporting social and humanitarian institutions that serve people with special needs and provide them with tools that improve their daily lives and integration into society,” he said.

Hassan Al Halabi, president of the Friendship Society for the Blind, expressed gratitude for the donation, describing it as a meaningful contribution that reflects strong community partnership.

He said the bus would significantly improve transport arrangements and help the organisation expand its activities and services for members.
