A Bahraini man has been remanded in custody after allegedly refusing for nearly a year to hand over a child to the custodial mother in line with a final court ruling, the Public Prosecution said.

The Family and Child Prosecution Office said it received a report from Isa Town Police Station regarding the case, in which the defendant had repeatedly failed to comply with a binding custody order. He reportedly claimed the child did not wish to live with the mother.

According to prosecutors, investigations were launched after the custodial mother filed multiple complaints documenting the prolonged non-compliance. The defendant was arrested and questioned, during which he admitted to not implementing the court decision.

The child was referred to the Public Prosecution’s Social Research Department, which found no obstacles to enforcing the custody ruling.

The prosecution ordered the defendant’s pre-trial detention pending further investigation and instructed him to immediately comply with the court order in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development. The child and family were also enrolled in a state support programme aimed at providing social and psychological assistance.

Authorities stressed that custody and visitation rulings are legally binding, warning that obstruction or delay in enforcement carries legal consequences. They reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the child's best interests and psychological stability through coordinated action with relevant agencies.
