Up to five years for filming key sites

The court sentenced defendants to prison terms of up to five years in two separate cases linked to filming sensitive infrastructure during what authorities described as “malicious Iranian attacks” on the kingdom.
The Head of the Terrorism Crimes Prosecution said the Minor Criminal Court issued rulings ranging from one to five years in prison. One defendant was also fined 100 Bahraini dinars, and the confiscation of seized items was ordered in both cases.
According to prosecutors, the first case involved a social media account monitored by the Cybercrime Directorate that published footage of vital facilities during the attacks, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
In the second case, the defendant was detained while allegedly filming key installations, an act deemed a violation of national security laws. Both individuals were referred to the Public Prosecution.
