Speaker Praises HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s Directives to Support Economy

Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, welcomed the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, aimed at supporting citizens and strengthening the national economy.

The directives include taking the necessary legal and constitutional steps to submit a draft law to cover the payment of April salaries for Bahrainis working in private sector companies through the unemployment insurance fund. They also include directing the Central Bank of Bahrain to launch a loan deferral programme along with liquidity support measures for the financial and economic sectors.

Al Musallam said the directives will support Bahraini citizens and the private sector, enhance financial and banking stability, and help safeguard national employment and economic activity.

He added that the directives reflect the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, placing citizens and family welfare at the forefront of national priorities.

The Speaker noted that the measures aim to maintain living stability, reduce economic pressures on individuals and businesses, and support market stability, contributing to the sustainability of economic activity in the Kingdom.

He also highlighted that the directives align with proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives, reflecting strong cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities.

Al Musallam affirmed that the Council will provide full legislative support and act promptly once the draft law is referred.
