Bahrain-Based Industrialist Drives Housing Initiative in Kerala
Demonstrating the Gulf diaspora’s enduring commitment to social welfare, Bahrain-based prominent businessman Pambavasan Nair oversaw the handover of 13 newly constructed homes to underprivileged families in Kerala, India, under the CMN (Chandramma-Madhavan Nair) Trust.
The landmark key handover ceremony for the trust’s flagship initiative, 'A Home of Your Own', was inaugurated in Ottapalam by Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, in the presence of state ministers, parliamentarians, and community leaders.
Launched on August 25, 2024, by Pambavasan Nair, Chairman of the CMN Trust, the social initiative originally aimed to construct 50 homes over a five-year period. Demonstrating extraordinary execution, the trust has completed 48 homes well ahead of schedule, with memorandums of understanding signed for an additional 10 homes during the event.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan commended Mr. Nair’s contributions, noting that the practice of treating the sorrows of others as one's own is exemplary, and that the active participation of overseas-based trusts and CSR initiatives provides critical support in housing and healthcare that complements public welfare efforts.
In addition to individual house construction, work is currently underway on the 'Anugraha Homes' project, where six dedicated houses are being built for landless, destitute families on 30 cents of land personally donated by Mr. Nair in Moonnoorkode. Beyond housing, the CMN Trust maintains a comprehensive social safety net, providing medical relief, educational scholarships, marriage aid, and monthly pensions to over 125 vulnerable families.
The ceremony drew cross-party attendance from prominent figures, including state ministers N. Shamsudheen and K.A. Thulasi, recognizing the impactful contribution of Bahrain’s expatriate leadership toward community development.
