BAS Continues Partnership with Youth City 2030

Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), through its training arm, the BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Centre, is participating in the latest edition of the Youth City 2030 initiative by delivering two specialised training programmes focused on the aviation and ground handling sectors.

The programmes, targeting young people aged between 15 and 35, aim to introduce participants to the aviation industry and airport ground services while equipping them with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue promising career opportunities in this vital sector. 

BAS’s participation reflects its ongoing partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs in supporting national initiatives that invest in youth capabilities, enhance workforce readiness, and provide specialised training that combines academic learning with practical simulation-based experiences.

As part of Youth City 2030, which runs until August 2026, the BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Centre is offering two programmes under the Science and Technology Centre: “Aircraft Engineer Challenge” and “From Check-in to Take-off.”

The “Aircraft Engineer Challenge” programme introduces participants to the fundamentals of aircraft engineering and maintenance, workplace safety concepts, and the use of specialised equipment through practical activities designed to simulate real working environments. 

Meanwhile, the “From Check-in to Take-off” programme provides an insight into airport operations, covering passenger check-in procedures, document verification, baggage handling, aircraft loading and unloading, and weight and balance control.

The programme aims to develop participants’ practical skills, strengthen analytical thinking, and prepare them for potential careers in the aviation industry.

Speaking on the occasion, BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Centre Director Ahmed Al Kuwaji highlighted the importance of investing in youth development and providing them with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills through specialised training programmes.

He added that BAS remains committed to supporting national efforts aimed at empowering Bahraini youth and preparing the next generation of professionals for careers in the aviation sector.
