The Government Hospitals has announced that the Accident & Emergency Unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex operates using the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), an internationally recognised system designed to prioritise patients based on the severity of their medical condition.
The CTAS system ensures a structured and efficient process for assessing and admitting patients upon arrival. Each case is evaluated immediately and categorised according to its level of urgency.
Approach
This approach enables medical teams to prioritise critical and life-threatening cases without delay, while also helping to reduce waiting times for other patients. Officials say the system contributes to improving the overall quality, safety, and efficiency of emergency healthcare services.
The initiative reflects the commitment of Government Hospitals to align with international best practices in emergency care and patient management.
