Manama: The family of a young security guard who was killed during an Iranian strike on Abu Dhabi International Airport has paid an emotional tribute to him, remembering him as a caring son who stayed in constant contact with his family.
Dibas Shrestha, 29, from Nepal, died on Sunday, March 1, a day after Iran launched its first missile and drone strikes targeting sites in the United Arab Emirates. Shrestha was among four residents who have lost their lives since the attacks began, which targeted infrastructure and civilian locations across the country.
According to his family, he maintained daily contact with them despite the escalating tensions in the region. His brother-in-law, Bishnu, said Shrestha had reassured his parents during the crisis.
Family members described him as a devoted son who worked abroad to support his loved ones back home. His death has left the family and the local community in deep mourning.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions following a wave of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran targeting key infrastructure in the UAE and other Gulf locations.
