His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has ratified and issued Law No. (11) of 2026 approving amendments to the unified system that extends social insurance protection to citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries working outside their home states but within another GCC member country.
The law was approved following endorsement by both the Shura Council of Bahrain and the Council of Representatives of Bahrain.
According to Article One of the law, the amendments to the unified system regulating the extension of social insurance coverage for GCC citizens working in other member states have been approved as attached to the legislation.
Article Two stipulates that the Prime Minister of Bahrain and the relevant ministers are responsible for implementing the provisions of the law. The legislation will come into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
The updated framework aims to strengthen social insurance protection for GCC nationals working across member states, ensuring that their employment benefits and coverage continue even when working outside their home countries within the GCC region.
