The Public Prosecution requested the death penalty for defendants accused of collaborating with the enemy during a court session held earlier yesterday.

In its submission, the prosecution stated that the session was procedural and did not allow sufficient time to present the full body of evidence against the defendants. It noted that the prosecution will outline the impact of the defendants qaactions and present detailed evidence during upcoming hearings.

The Public Prosecution explained that the case comes amid exceptional circumstances facing the Kingdom of Bahrain, as it confronts ongoing attacks that have heightened concerns among citizens and residents.

According to the prosecution, the defendants allegedly collaborated with a terrorist organization engaged in hostile activities with the intention of carrying out acts against the Kingdom. It further stated that the accused took photographs of locations where photography is prohibited in order to pass on information considered part of the country’s defense secrets.

The prosecution described the actions as a grave betrayal of the nation that warrants the harshest penalties.

It concluded by affirming that the law will remain firm in confronting anyone who jeopardizes the country’s security or sovereignty, stressing that justice will hold accountable all those who attempt to undermine the Kingdom’s safety and stability.
