Parliament will meet on Tuesday for the Twentieth Ordinary Session of the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Sixth Legislative Term, with several key issues on the agenda.
MPs are set to review a proposed amendment to Article 264 of the Commercial Companies Law. The draft change, referred by the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, aims to update part of the Kingdom’s corporate regulatory framework. Lawmakers will examine whether the amendment aligns with current economic developments and supports a modern business environment.
Food security will also be discussed. A proposal submitted by several MPs calls for the establishment of an independent government entity or Supreme Council for Food Security. Supporters say such a body would improve coordination, strengthen preparedness and enhance long-term food supply management.
Sports infrastructure is another item on the agenda, with MPs set to debate a proposal to establish a national stadium in Muharraq. Proponents say the project would support youth development and build on the governorate’s strong sporting heritage.
Urban planning matters will be raised through a parliamentary question on land classification and reclassification procedures in District 12 of the Northern Governorate. The discussion is expected to focus on planning standards and transparency in zoning decisions.
Healthcare services in Busaiteen will also be reviewed, as MPs consider a proposal to establish a health centre in the Al Sayah area to meet growing demand from residents.
Meanwhile, the housing file returns to the spotlight in Muharraq. MPs will seek updated figures on pending housing applications in the Third District, as families continue to await allocation.
Tuesday’s session is expected to focus on legislative reform, service expansion and development priorities across the Kingdom.
