Consumer complaints filed with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce fell for the third consecutive year , declining from 7,686 cases in 2023 to 7,153 in 2024 and 6,429 in 2025, according to figures submitted to Parliament following a question by MP Mohammed Salman Al Ahmed.
The ministry said it enforces the Consumer Protection Law through inspections, market monitoring and legal action where violations are proven, aiming first to resolve disputes amicably before escalating cases when necessary.
Electrical and electronic goods accounted for the largest share of complaints across the three years, followed by vehicles, clothing and footwear, and contracting services. Delivery service complaints rose sharply in 2025, while food-related complaints continued to fall. Jewellery and tyre-related complaints also increased.
Refunds remained the most common outcome, followed by completion of agreed work and warranty repairs. Referrals to the Public Prosecution linked to binding decisions stood at 333 in 2025.
The ministry said it continues to monitor prices and market practices, particularly for essential goods, while running consumer awareness programmes and inspection campaigns nationwide.
