Cairo: Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), took part in the 36th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, organised by Egypt’s Ministry of Endowments.

The conference, hosted in Cairo under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, brings together ministers, senior officials, prominent scholars, intellectuals and researchers, along with representatives of religious and official institutions from across the world. Participants are examining key contemporary intellectual and advocacy issues facing the Islamic nation.

During his participation, Shaikh Abdulrahman conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He stressed the importance of harmonising tradition with modernity while underscoring Islam’s values of tolerance and its comprehensive legislative foundations. He noted that work occupies a central place in Islam, linking faith with ethical conduct.

Shaikh Abdulrahman also highlighted the profound impact of artificial intelligence and digital transformation on the future of professions, calling for a balanced, values-based approach that embraces technological progress while safeguarding Islamic principles.

The conference programme and research sessions are structured around five core themes: professions during the era of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in terms of their forms, ethics and jurisprudence; the evolution of professions throughout Islamic history and their role in building civilisation; professions across global civilisations and the lessons drawn from human experience for the future; professions in Egypt from a historical, current and future perspective; and the future of professions in the age of artificial intelligence.
