The parliamentary inquiry committee tasked with reviewing job vacancies listed in the Ministry of Labour’s records, as well as the procedures for closing job seeker files and suspending unemployment benefits, conducted its first field visit to the Ministry of Labour on January 14.
The visit was led by MP Jalila Alawi Al-Sayed, Chairwoman of the committee, and attended by committee members.
During the visit, the committee met with His Excellency Yousef bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, and his accompanying delegation.
Discussions focused on the key areas of the inquiry, including verifying the number of job vacancies listed in the Ministry’s records and reviewing the procedures used to fill them.
The committee also examined in detail the mechanisms for closing job seeker files and suspending unemployment benefits. MP Al-Sayed emphasized that the meeting provided a close and comprehensive understanding of the Ministry’s modern electronic system, which displays job vacancies from employers and makes them accessible to citizens seeking employment.
She noted that the ministry presented a detailed visual demonstration of the system, which prompted the committee to raise specialized questions and inquiries related to the program and the committee’s work agenda.
