Manama: The Holy Quran Recitation and Teachers Preparation Institute organised an award ceremony to recognise the winners of the third edition of the Mutun competition. The event was attended by Shaikh Yasser Ibrahim Al Jalahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) and Deputy Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Directors.
The competition awarded first, second, and third places across seven categories, each focusing on the memorisation and comprehension of accredited foundational texts related to Quranic sciences, Tajweed, and Qera’at. Honoured texts included Al Shatibiyyah (three sections), Al Jazariyyah, Al Ajurrumiyyah, Tuhfat Al Atfal, and Al Khaqaniyyah, among others.
A total of 128 competitors took part in this edition, comprising 59 male and 69 female participants, distributed across the seven competition branches. In parallel, the accompanying Mutun educational programme recorded an average attendance of 187 participants and featured a series of specialised academic lectures delivered by qualified scholars.
The competition was organised by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs as part of its continued efforts to realise the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of the Government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These efforts aim to promote the Holy Quran, its sciences, and those dedicated to its memorisation and recitation, reinforcing Bahrain’s standing as a leading centre for Quranic studies through initiatives such as national competitions, the printing of Mushaf Al Bahrain, the establishment of Quran recitation institutes, and the expansion of Quran centres across the Kingdom.
