Sir Syed Educational & Cultural Society dedicates hearttouching event to Ganga Jamuni culture of India

Sir Syed Educational & Cultural Society (SSEduCul) Bahrain organized a heart-touching fusional evening of poetry and music on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at the Grand Ambassador Ballroom of Radisson Blu Hotel. The evening was dedicated to the Ganga Jamuni culture of India with the participation of celebrated Urdu and Hindi poets like Professor Waseem Barelvi, Sampat Saral, Dr. Nusrat Mehdi, Ahmed Adil, Shabeena Adeeb, Iqbal Azhar, Nadeem Shad, Himanchi Babra, and Syed Muskan Reyaz. SSEduCul used this literary event as an appropriate opportunity to bestow its first “Aabroo e Qalam” award to Professor Waseem Barelvi in recognition to his more than 50 years of contribution to Urdu poetry and literature.

Compilations

Professor Waseem is a globally admired and honored Urdu poet with plenty of compilations. SSEduCul this year also introduced a musical segment in its annual literary event, which allowed Indian artists Sarah Mehdi and Samar Mehdi to present a live contemporary performance of ghazal recitation backed by contemporary music such that reimagining this timeless art for today’s audience of Bahrain. This literary and cultural evening of SSEduCul left a mesmerizing and magical effect on the fully packed audience of the Grand Ambassador Ballroom, who left the venue with overwhelming emotions of pleasure and joy.
