The café has always welcomed a diverse mix of patrons. Locals, craftsmen, families, and tourists share tables side by side, creating a unique sense of community. “Haji Café is a home for everyone,” Zuhair added, reinforcing the café’s role as an inclusive and enduring social hub.

More than a place to eat, Haji Café is a living testament to Bahrain’s heritage. Its reopening is not just about continuing a business; it is about restoring a cultural landmark, preserving a sense of place, and connecting past generations with the present. In an era of modern malls and fast-paced urban life, Haji Café stands as a symbol of continuity, simplicity, and timeless tradition in the heart of Manama.

Speaking about the reopening of the café in its original location, Zuhair Haji, grandson of the founder, reflected on the personal connection that brought him back. Returning to Haji Café was a journey to his childhood, to the very place where he grew up surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of the bustling souq. “Maintaining our authenticity and simplicity is at the heart of everything we do,” he said, stressing the importance of the café’s original character

Haji Café operates on principles handed down through generations. All meals are prepared fresh daily, never stored or overproduced, in alignment with the call to prayer. “Take your daily sustenance, but do not take more than you need,” Zuhair explained, reflecting the founder’s belief that sustenance is a blessing to be honored, not hoarded. This philosophy ensures that every dish, from Baker and dairy products to the famous traditional Bahraini cream, is served fresh and with care.
