Car imports up 5.4% through

More new vehicles moved through Khalifa bin Salman Port this year, with 41,013 cars and other vehicles recorded in the first 11 months of 2025, up from 38,926 over the same stretch last year, a rise of 5.4 per cent.
Data issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications shows the port handled 2,087 more vehicles than it did between January and November 2024, tracking higher import and export activity through the terminal.
The monthly totals swung across 2025. January was the busiest month, with 5,365 vehicles, while May recorded the lowest figure at 2,453. Across the year so far, the monthly average stands at about 3,729 vehicles, compared with 3,539 in 2024, matching the 5.4 per cent increase.
Record
Movement in the last quarter has sat in a fairly narrow band, between about 3,000 and 4,500 vehicles a month, with higher numbers recorded in November and December.
The rise in vehicle traffic came alongside gains in other port measures over the same period, with commercial containers up 8.5 per cent and general cargo up 25 per cent.
Khalifa bin Salman Port is a main route for vehicle imports into Bahrain and nearby markets, handling private and commercial cars as well as heavy equipment.
