Bahrain–Qatar Ferry Service to Boost Connectivity, Says Cabinet

The Cabinet today welcomed the launch of passenger ferry services between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar, emphasizing its role in strengthening tourism, commercial trade, and regional connectivity. A report submitted by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications highlighted the development, prompting His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to direct that the ferry route be fully utilised for the transport of passengers, vehicles, and commercial cargo. His Royal Highness also instructed the Ministry to continue monitoring and advancing the implementation plans for the Bahrain–Qatar Causeway project.

During the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace, chaired by His Royal Highness, ministers also discussed other key developments and national achievements. The Cabinet highlighted the significance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s recent state visit to Malaysia, noting that discussions with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar further strengthened bilateral ties and cooperation across multiple sectors.

The Cabinet commended the launch of the King Hamad Lecture for Neutral Justice, attended by His Royal Highness on behalf of His Majesty, which brought together judges, government officials, and international legal experts to explore innovations in cross-border dispute resolution and Bahrain’s ambitions to become a regional hub for commercial justice.

The outcomes of the third Arab International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition (AICS 2025) were also underscored, with Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa inaugurating the event on behalf of the Crown Prince, reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to global cybersecurity cooperation.

The Cabinet further expressed appreciation for the authorities behind the success of major events, including the Royal Bahrain Concours and the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain, highlighting the Kingdom’s growing international prominence in motorsports. It also welcomed the inauguration of the second phase of the Avenues – Bahrain expansion, reinforcing the mall’s position as a premier shopping and entertainment destination.

Several key memorandums were approved, including Bahrain’s accession to the Locarno Agreement on industrial designs, linking GCC countries via the GCC Rail Project, facilitating recreational maritime vessel movement across the GCC, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Higher Education Council and QS Quacquarelli Symonds (UK).

The Cabinet concluded by reviewing reports on Bahrain’s participation in major international forums, including the Fifth Bahrain–India High Joint Commission Meeting, ADIPEC 2025, COP30 Climate Summit, the first Bahrain International Public Health Conference, and the Second World Summit for Social Development.
