Government hospitals marked World Radiography Day, observed annually on November 8, to recognise the vital role of medical imaging in disease diagnosis and healthcare advancement.

Dr. Hazem Habib Al Aali, Chief of Medical Services For Surgical Departments at Government Hospitals, said the radiology department at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) performs more than 1,000 daily imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds, totalling over 269,000 annually. He highlighted ongoing efforts to reduce MRI waiting lists and improve access to diagnostic services, enhancing efficiency and patient care.

Dr. Jalila Al Sayed Adnan, Head of the Radiology Department at SMC, said the department is implementing upgrades to streamline operations, halve waiting times for ultrasound and MRI scans, and improve service quality through workflow restructuring and development projects.

She said the improvements reflect greater coordination among medical, technical, and administrative teams, leading to faster and higher-quality diagnostic services.
