A woman has been sent to the High Criminal Court after a four-and-a-halfyear-old boy died when he was left in her private car for hours at midday, the Public Prosecution said.

She faces charges of causing death by negligence and running an unlicensed transport service.

According to the Hamad Town Police Station, the driver failed to drop the child at his kindergarten in the morning and later forgot him inside the vehicle, where he was found dead.

Inspection

Prosecutors attended the scene, carried out an inspection and ordered the car seized and examined.

A forensic pathologist at the Directorate of Forensic Evidence reported that the boy died from suffocation after being left for hours in a closed vehicle with no ventilation.

Statements were taken from the child’s family and from the kindergarten’s owner and director.

Admission

During questioning, the defendant admitted she had been transporting children and students to kindergartens and schools without a licence from the competent authorities, using her private car which was not authorised for transport.

She also confessed to forgetting the victim inside the vehicle for several hours.

The Prosecution ordered her detention and referred the case to the High Criminal Court. The hearing is set for 2 November 2025.
