Asian National Referred to Criminal Court in Human Trafficking Case

The Public Prosecution has completed its investigation into a human trafficking case involving forced labor and sexual exploitation and has referred an Asian national to the High Criminal Court. The trial is scheduled for October 7, 2025.

According to the Public Prosecution, the case began after the Anti-Human Trafficking Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Evidence received a complaint from two victims. They reported that they had come to Bahrain for employment, but upon arrival, their passports were confiscated, their freedom was restricted, and they were subjected to forced labor. They were made to work long hours without rest, under conditions that were inappropriate for the nature of the job, in addition to being sexually exploited.

The Prosecution immediately launched an investigation, recording the victims’ statements and placing them in a shelter operated by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. The accused was interrogated and held in pre-trial detention. Police investigations confirmed the crime, and officers involved in the inquiry gave their testimonies.

Following the completion of the investigation and the establishment of sufficient evidence, the defendant was referred in custody to the Criminal Court for trial.
