ICT Governance Committee Reviews BD3 Million in Government Procurement Requests

The ICT Governance Committee (ICTGC) has reviewed government procurement requests valued at approximately BD3 million during its second meeting of the third term, held virtually under the chairmanship of Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.

Al Qaed commended the committee members for their efforts, highlighting the committee’s pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of government digital initiatives and supporting the Kingdom’s ongoing digital transformation.

Key projects reviewed included the Consumer Protection Complaints and Enquiries System, which will leverage artificial intelligence to process complaints from multiple channels. The system is designed to classify, analyze, and verify submissions — including contracts and invoices — while identifying complaint trends, generating statistics, and providing smart dashboards to speed up case resolution, improve transparency, and boost customer satisfaction.

The committee also assessed the Ministry of Health’s electronic system project, which automates the calculation of impairment percentages based on American Medical Association standards. The initiative aims to provide accurate, transparent evaluations, ensure reliable outcomes, and create a robust database to support research and policy development.

In addition, the Cloud-based VOIP Upgrade Project proposed by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture was reviewed. The project seeks to modernize communications by adopting cloud-based unified communication technologies. It will enhance connectivity across government locations, enable cost-efficient upgrades, and improve centralized network management.

Other procurement requests related to the development, maintenance, and support of government information systems and infrastructure were also examined. These projects aim to strengthen IT service quality, ensure system reliability, and guarantee business continuity across entities.

Attendees included senior representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Ministry of Health, Prime Minister’s Office, University of Bahrain, and ICT experts, alongside iGA leadership.
