Yacine Diop Leads Bahrain Side Past Al Qurain
Bahrain’s Al Hala women’s basketball team ended their campaign in the Arab Women’s Club Basketball Championship on a high, beating Kuwait’s Al Qurain 105-71 at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Sports Hall in Medina, Saudi Arabia. After a string of close defeats, Al Hala finally claimed their first win of the tournament.
Diop Dominates Across All Stats
Yacine Diop led the charge with a sensational 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Bayan Salman added 28 points and 4 assists. Alexa Hart contributed 11 points off the bench. Al Hala outscored Al Qurain in every quarter: 24-26, 21-28, 14-26, and 12-25, steadily pulling away after a competitive start.
Italee Lucas top-scored for Al Qurain with 22 points, adding 5 rebounds and 7 assists, but the Kuwaiti side could not match Al Hala’s balance and defensive intensity.
Al Hala shot 59% from two-point range, 30% from three, and 79% from the free-throw line. They grabbed 45 rebounds, distributed 25 assists, forced 20 turnovers, recorded 15 steals, and 3 blocks. Al Qurain managed 43% from two, 38% from three, and 50% on free throws, with 43 rebounds, 16 assists, 15 steals, and just 1 block, though they edged Al Hala on turnovers with 25.
