Two Teenagers Arrested for Blackmailing Child Online
The Ministry of Interior announced that the Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace, operating under the General Department for Combating Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, has arrested two juveniles aged between 16 and 17 for threatening and blackmailing a 14-year-old child through social media.
Authorities confirmed that the arrests followed an official report filed with the unit. Investigators promptly launched a search, gathered evidence, and successfully identified and apprehended the suspects.
The General Department stated that the necessary legal procedures have been taken, and the case is being referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace reiterated the importance of parental supervision in safeguarding children online. Parents were urged to educate their children about the risks of social media platforms and other online sites, and to guide them on how to respond when facing threats or dangers.
