Bahrain Opens New Women’s Support Office at Mubarak Kanoo Social Center
The Supreme Council for Women today inaugurated the Women’s Support Office at the Mubarak Kanoo Comprehensive Social Center in the Sanabis area. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Osama Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, and Ms. Lolwah Al Awadhi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women.
The opening is part of the Council’s initiative to establish women’s support offices within social development centers across all four governorates of Bahrain. This effort aims to enhance and expand the support services available to Bahraini women, in line with the Council’s mandate.
During the event, Minister Al Alawi expressed his deepest appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their unwavering support of the advancement of Bahraini women. He also praised Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, for her pioneering efforts and initiatives that have made the Bahraini women’s experience a model regionally and internationally.
The Minister highlighted that the new office represents a pioneering step reflecting Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to supporting and empowering women. He noted that the initiative is a product of the constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Social Development and the Supreme Council for Women, offering a specialized platform for providing guidance, consultations, and support to Bahraini women, thereby promoting their active participation in society and helping overcome challenges they face.
In her remarks, Secretary-General Lolwah Al Awadhi extended her gratitude to His Majesty the King and the Crown Prince for their unlimited support of Bahraini women. She also expressed her appreciation to Princess Sabeeka for her direct interest and guidance, which have been instrumental in advancing women’s roles across various sectors.
Al Awadhi emphasized that the new office at Mubarak Kanoo Social Center is part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to create a comprehensive environment that addresses women’s needs, enhances available programs and services, and ensures women fully benefit from these initiatives. The office is designed to respond to the growing demand from Bahraini women for access to the Council’s services across the country.
The office will provide a wide range of services, including receiving and addressing women’s requests and complaints, facilitating access to government services, and monitoring women’s needs to help overcome societal challenges. The Council will continue to evaluate the impact of this initiative to ensure it achieves its goals and maximizes benefits for Bahraini women.
The Secretary-General also highlighted the productive partnership between the Supreme Council for Women and the Ministry of Social Development, stressing the continuous coordination to launch innovative programs that empower women and provide integrated, high-impact services.
The Women’s Support Office is staffed by specialized personnel from the Supreme Council for Women, trained to offer various support services, including family guidance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and other governmental institutions.
