Bahrain’s Public Security Chief Hosts U.S. Delegation on Violence and Addiction Prevention
Lieutenant-General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, received Professor David Wyrick, Head of the University of North Carolina delegation and the International Organization for the Prevention of Violence and Addiction (DARE), in the presence of Ali Ahmed Amini, Director of Crime Prevention and Director of the “Together” Program for Combating Violence and Addiction.
At the start of the meeting, the Chief of Public Security warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing his appreciation for the support and directives of the Minister of Interior regarding the continuous enhancement of police services to safeguard the community and maintain public security. He also highlighted the significance of developing the “Together” program, focusing on improving its outcomes through practical research collaboration and the adoption of international expertise.
The discussions included reviewing several scientific approaches to combating violence and addiction, exploring ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and considering how the results of scientific studies can contribute to the development of educational curricula.
Lieutenant-General Al Hassan concluded the meeting by affirming the commitment to fostering cooperation with international research and academic institutions. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and research centers to advance policing practices, reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional hub for research and training.
