Bahraini students in China escape inferno

Around 20 Bahraini students in Nanjing City, China, escaped a devastating fire that broke out in their dormitory on Sunday evening.

According to sources, the blaze took place on the 44th floor of the 55-storey building, while the students stayed on the 49th floor.

Sources also confirmed that there were 10 female students and nine males. They all escaped unharmed, except for one suffocation case.

Three of them were stuck on the rooftop of the burning building for almost three hours, until firemen rescued them, after the fire was distinguished.

Foreign Affairs Ministry stated on Monday that “the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the People’s Republic of China closely follows the accident of breaking out of fire in a residential building where a number of Bahraini students residing.”



The Ministry confirmed that “one Bahraini student was affected and suffered a breathing problem as a result of smoke inhaling. She was hospitalised for treatment.”



“The Kingdom’s Embassy in Beijing is following her case and is in direct contact with her, the hospital’s management and the doctor in charge of her case on an ongoing basis,” said the statement.

“The Embassy confirms the safety of all Bahraini students in China and it communicates and provides necessary help to them,” the Ministry added.
