Mini-School Launched at Psychiatric Hospital to Support Patient Rehabilitation
Initiative by Government Hospitals and Bahrain Trust Foundation promotes recovery through education
Government hospitals, in collaboration with the Bahrain Trust Foundation, have launched a new initiative to operate a "mini-school" at the Psychiatric Hospital. The initiative aims to enhance the rehabilitative and educational aspects of patient care and support their reintegration into society.
A Step Toward Holistic Healing
Dr. Mariam Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, emphasized the importance of this initiative in boosting rehabilitation programs within the hospital. She highlighted that education plays a critical role in psychological recovery, serving as a complementary pillar to healthcare services.
Dr. Al Jalahma also praised the vital role of civil society organizations in supporting national health and social policies, noting how such collaborations create new avenues for recovery and social engagement.
Building on Past Successes
Dr. Al Jalahma explained that this initiative builds upon previously successful educational projects implemented in various wings of government hospitals, notably the "Deena Kanoo Mini-School" for pediatric patients at Salmaniya Medical Complex. That initiative was launched in both the Pediatric Oncology Ward (202) and the Children's Wing (31), creating stimulating learning environments that contribute to the development of patients’ cognitive and social abilities, while complementing their rehabilitative care.
A Vision of Empowerment Through Education
Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Balooshi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the Bahrain Trust Foundation, stated that the "mini-school" model reflects the Foundation’s vision of making education accessible to all segments of society. She said the goal is to transform healthcare and treatment centers into platforms for empowerment and hope.
According to Dr. Al Balooshi, the initiative focuses on creating flexible learning environments within health and social institutions, giving individuals the opportunity to develop their skills despite the challenges they face.
