A man who deliberately crashed into a delivery rider, causing lasting injury, has lost his appeal against a threeyear jail term.
The High Criminal Appeals Court upheld the sentence after reviewing evidence that the offender had a history of targeting motorcyclists.
The court heard that the man deliberately drove into the victim’s motorcycle following a dispute on the road, leaving him with a permanent 1% disability and damage to the motorbike.
Prosecutors said the driver did not set out to cause permanent harm but was responsible for the injury and damage.
The victim, a food delivery rider, told investigators he was heading to a restaurant in Saar to pick up an order when the driver blocked his path.
A dispute followed. When the rider moved ahead, the driver accelerated and rammed the motorbike, knocking him to the ground. The offender then drove off.
A bystander saw the crash and later told authorities the driver was tailing the motorcyclist closely before speeding up and hitting him.
The impact left the rider unconscious. Emergency services were called, and an investigation was launched.
