The Ministry of Works has announced the completion of three important road projects in the Southern Governorate during 2024, including a remarkable 300% increase in road capacity in the educational area of Isa Town.
These projects, detailed on the ministry’s official website under the “Completed Projects” section, aim to elevate the Kingdom’s infrastructure and transportation network.
The main project centered on enhancing Roads 4109 and 4013, along with carrying the second phase of the Bahrain Youth Avenue development within Isa Town’s educational area.
Road 4109 was transformed into a dual carriageway, featuring two lanes in each direction for improved traffic flow. This project also added traffic signals at the intersection of Road 4109 and the road leading to Shaikh Salman Highway, as well as at the entrance to the Bahrain Training Institute, significantly improving traffic flow.
The ministry stated that this project increased road capacity from 1,000 vehicles per hour to 3,000 vehicles per hour.
The second phase of the Bahrain Youth Avenue development added 800 meters of road length, boosting capacity by 300% and enhancing safety in an area housing several educational institutions.
The second project focused on enhancing the road infrastructure in Blocks 915 and 916 in Riffa, with a total investment of BD428,000.
This comprehensive initiative includes civil and asphalt works, such as resurfacing roads and walkways, as well as constructing an efficient stormwater drainage system.
Additionally, the project features the creation of new parking spaces, the implementation of improved traffic safety measures, the installation of clear traffic signs, and the relocation of underground utilities to facilitate better accessibility and safety.
The third project involved the rehabilitation and development of several roads in Block 816 in Isa Town.
Serving 1,023 properties, this initiative resurfaced roads from 1601 to 1631, covering a total length of 8.3 kilometers.
