132 Killed As 7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Colombia

Bogotá: At least 132 people have been killed and more than 480 injured after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, with rescuers searching collapsed buildings for survivors.
The earthquake struck at 07:34 local time in Chocó province at a depth of about 103km. The tremor was felt across a wide area, causing major damage in several cities.
Pereira was among the worst-hit areas, with at least 40 deaths reported in its metropolitan area. Around 65 buildings collapsed, and people are feared trapped inside 15 of them.
Cali, about 160km south of Pereira, reported 32 collapsed buildings, while deaths were also recorded in Manizales, Quibdó and Medellín, as well as parts of Chocó and Valle del Cauca.
A state of emergency has been declared, while a night-time curfew is in force in parts of Pereira. Authorities warned that the death toll could rise as rescue teams reach damaged buildings.
The earthquake's epicentre was near San José del Palmar in Chocó, where roads were damaged but local officials reported no deaths or injuries.
