Trump aims for Moon return, Mars missions in new space push

Washington: US President Donald Trump has promised to bring in a "golden age" of space transportation, with a goal of over 1,000 rocket launches and re-entries from US soil each year by 2030.
Trump's new policy urges NASA to increase commercial space travel to the Moon, support robotic missions to Mars, and investigate commercial options for sending humans to Mars. He also wants American astronauts back on the Moon by 2028.
The memorandum advocates for increased private-sector investment, expedited permitting and environmental evaluations, and new launch and re-entry sites on federal lands. The aim compares to 178 US launches and re-entries in 2025.
The project comes as the United States competes with China to send people back to the Moon and extend its space presence.
