Perth: Yung Filly, a British rapper and social media star, will face a second trial in Australia after a jury failed to return a decision on three rape charges following an event in Perth in September 2024.
The 30 years old entertainer, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, went through an eight-day trial last month. The jury found him guilty of two charges of assault resulting in physical injury to the victim, who was 20 at the time.
He was acquitted of three additional rape accusations and one choking allegation. However, jurors were unable to reach the needed majority verdict on the other three rape allegations, forcing a retrial.
Prosecutor Danielle Clarke informed the Western Australian District Court that the accused victim, who wasn't identified, was eager to testify again. No date has been set for the retrial, but the matter is scheduled to return to court on September 25.
Barrientos has rejected the allegations and is still on bail. He will be sentenced for his assault convictions following the retrial.
