Oman Successfully Tests Azad Dreamer Rocket at Duqm Spaceport
Oman has successfully conducted a test launch of the Azad Dreamer rocket from the Itlaq Spaceport in the Duqm area as part of the Karman X1 space mission.
According to the Oman News Agency, the rocket, measuring 4.3 metres in length and weighing 26 kilograms, lifted off from the spaceport and followed a stable ascending trajectory.
Flight data was successfully transmitted to the spaceport’s control centre throughout the mission, allowing the team to monitor the rocket’s performance during its flight.
The rocket continued along its planned trajectory until reaching the designated target altitude within the test range.
Test Mission Focuses on Technology
The Karman X1 mission was not intended to reach outer space. Instead, the test focused on evaluating the launch process, the rocket’s flight performance and the technologies and systems used during the mission.
The successful test provides the launch team with data to assess the performance of the rocket and supporting systems during future experimental missions.
Second Successful Duqm Launch
Karman X1 marks the second successful launch conducted from Duqm Spaceport, following the success of the Duqm-1 mission in December 2024.
The Duqm Spaceport team was responsible for preparing the launch site, supporting the integration of the rocket's components and managing safety procedures within the launch area.
The successful operation also highlights Duqm's developing capabilities as a site for experimental and suborbital rocket missions.
Supporting Oman’s Space Programme
The Karman X1 mission is part of the “Composition” programme, established by Duqm Spaceport in 2024.
The programme aims to facilitate suborbital and experimental rocket launches while emphasizing speed, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and adaptability.
The latest test adds to Oman’s experience in conducting rocket launches and developing infrastructure and technical capabilities for future experimental space missions.
