US Coast Guard searches for missing medical evacuation plane off Massachusetts coast
The US Coast Guard has launched a search operation for a medical evacuation aircraft that went missing off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, while travelling from Bermuda to Boston with six people on board.
The Coast Guard said surface vessels and aircraft were deployed to search for the missing Gulfstream G100 in waters near Nantucket.
The aircraft, operated by Canada-based Latitude Air Ambulance, disappeared at around 1:30 a.m., according to company spokesman Clarence Togeretz.
Togeretz said the aircraft was carrying two pilots, two medical staff, one patient and a family member. He said he had no further information about the ongoing search and rescue operation.
Latitude Air Ambulance operates a fleet of 10 aircraft providing medical evacuation and repatriation services, transporting patients from locations around the world.
The Coast Guard search involves both aircraft and surface vessels as authorities work to locate the missing plane and determine the status of those on board.
