Amman: Jordan's military said it intercepted and shot down five Iranian missiles on Wednesday after they entered the kingdom's airspace, as fighting between Iran and the United States resumed following a brief pause.
The Jordanian Armed Forces said its air defence systems successfully intercepted the missiles, which were heading towards the kingdom's territory, preventing any reported casualties or damage.
Jordan has repeatedly activated its air defences during regional conflicts to intercept missiles and drones crossing its airspace, saying the measures are aimed at protecting the country's sovereignty and civilians.
The latest interceptions came as hostilities between Tehran and Washington escalated again, raising concerns over wider regional security.
