The Embassy of Italy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), presented Portrait of Ennio: The Jazz Side of Ennio Morricone, an evening dedicated to the legendary Italian composer, performed by the acclaimed Patrizio Destriere Quartet as part of the 35th Bahrain International Music Festival.

The concert brought together Bahraini authorities, Ambassadors, distinguished guests, music lovers and members of Bahrain's vibrant cultural community all friends of Italy, for an emotional journey through some of Morricone's most celebrated film scores, reimagined through the language of jazz. The program featured memorable works from Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in America, The Legend of 1900, Sacco e Vanzetti, and other cinematic masterpieces, concluding with the moving encore Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission.

In his opening remarks, H. E. Andrea Catalano, Ambassador of Italy expressed his gratitude to H.E. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of BACA, for his continued support of cultural dialogue and international artistic exchange. The Ambassador highlighted the enduring legacy of Ennio Morricone, whose extraordinary music has accompanied generations of cinema-goers around the world. More than a film composer, Morricone was a musical visionary whose melodies transcended the screen and became part of the collective memory of millions of people, touching audiences across cultures and generations.

The evening held additional significance as it took place on 4 October, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Italy. This year marks the 800th anniversary of the Saint's passing, and the audience was particularly moved by a special musical tribute dedicated to the memory of the great advocate of peace, dialogue and fraternity.

The concert reaffirmed the strength of cultural relations between Italy and Bahrain and the shared conviction that music remains one of the most powerful instruments for fostering understanding between peoples. Through initiatives such as this, Italy continues to bring to Bahrain the richness of its artistic and cultural heritage, encompassing music, cinema, creativity and innovation, while contributing to the Kingdom's dynamic and internationally renowned cultural scene.

The Embassy of Italy extends its sincere appreciation to BACA, the artists, partners and all attendees whose presence contributed to the success of this memorable evening celebrating the universal language of music and the enduring genius of Ennio Morricone.
