UAE and US join forces to develop AI-powered defence technologies

Abu Dhabi: The UAE and the United States agreed upon form their first bilateral artificial intelligence task force to speed up the use of AI in defence and military activities. The effort, known as Task Force Talon Synapse, was unveiled by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and seeks to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The task force's primary objectives will be to create AI-powered solutions for intelligence analysis, key infrastructure protection, cybersecurity strengthening, battlefield awareness improvement, and regional security threat monitoring. Officials say the collaboration would also look into how advanced AI technologies may be integrated into military planning and decision-making, as well as how to improve interoperability between both countries' armed forces.

The decision emphasises the UAE and US's expanding defence ties, as both governments seek to use emerging technology to increase operational readiness and meet evolving security threats. Task Force Talon Synapse is set to begin operations in the next weeks, marking the first formal bilateral AI military endeavour of its sort between the two nations.
