Jerusalem: Israel has said it intends to keep its forces in security zones inside Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, citing the need to protect its borders and nearby communities from threats posed by jihadist groups.
Defence Minister Israel Katz made the position clear during an overnight conversation with US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to Katz's office. The statement did not specify how long Israeli troops would remain in the areas.
