MOSCOW: Russia’s embassy in Stockholm was targeted in an overnight drone attack that dropped red paint and a mock-up improvised explosive device onto its premises.

The embassy slammed the incident as an obvious attempt to intimidate its staff and shared photographs of the downed drones online. While Stockholm police confirmed they are investigating a classified case of embassy vandalism, they declined to name the specific mission involved.

Local authorities noted that complex embassy incidents have become increasingly common, prompting the creation of a specialized investigation unit. According to Swedish media, this attack follows a string of similar drone provocations spanning between 2024 and 2025.

Furthermore, Russian officials highlighted that over ten similar unresolved incidents have occurred over the past two consecutive years, including a January 2025 incident where a man rammed the metal gate of the embassy with his own car
