Washington D C: Iconic Village People frontman Victor Willis has passed away at age 74 following a brief but aggressive illness. The lead singer and co-founder of the legendary disco group died on Tuesday, according to a Facebook announcement by his spouse.

President Donald Trump expressed his condolences on Truth Social, stating that Willis will be sorely missed. The band's massive 1970s hit "Y.M.C.A." had famously become a regular fixture and crowd-favorite anthem at Trump's political rallies.

Born in Texas, Willis co-founded the pop culture phenomenon in 1977 alongside producer Jacques Morali. He co-wrote global dancefloor classics like ‘In the Navy’ and ‘Macho Man,’ famously performing in his signature cop and admiral stage personas.

‘Y.M.C.A.’ entered the Grammy Hall of Fame. Despite leaving the group in 1980 and battling personal struggles, he reclaimed his music rights and rejoined the band in 2017.
