Mystery Deepens Over Beijing Plane Crash as Questions Remain Unanswered

Beijing : Four days after a small aircraft crashed into Beijing's tallest skyscraper, killing the pilot and injuring 13 people on the ground, Chinese authorities have yet to explain how the plane breached the capital's tightly controlled airspace.

The only official statement released so far is a brief report confirming the crash. Authorities have since boarded up the damaged section of the 109-storey CITIC Tower, while videos and images of the incident have largely disappeared from Chinese social media.

Several aviation companies told the BBC they had been instructed to suspend light aircraft operations following the crash but declined to provide further details, saying they had been told not to discuss the matter.

The incident has fuelled speculation because Beijing has one of the world's strictest airspace control systems, including a permanent no-fly zone over its political centre near Zhongnanhai and Tiananmen Square.

Analysts described the crash as a major security breach and said the lack of official information has raised questions about how the aircraft entered the restricted airspace. The incident also comes after China tightened drone regulations in the capital over security concerns.
