Burgenstock, Switzerland: Iran and the United States have agreed on a roadmap towards a final peace agreement after completing the first round of high-level negotiations aimed at ending their more than 100-day conflict.
The talks, held in Switzerland and mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, resulted in an agreement to continue technical negotiations and work towards a comprehensive deal within 60 days.
Officials said both sides agreed to establish communication channels to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open and reduce the risk of misunderstandings in the strategically important waterway. A separate coordination mechanism was also created to help prevent renewed fighting in Lebanon.
The negotiations were led by US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as part of a broader peace process launched under a preliminary agreement reached last week.
Mediators described the discussions as constructive and said working groups would continue talks in the coming days, although key details of a final settlement remain unresolved.
