CNN, MS NOW & Politico Sue Trump Administration Over White House Ban

Washington: CNN, MS NOW, and Politico announced Monday that they are suing the Trump administration after their journalists were excluded from the White House and their press credentials were withdrawn. The publications claim that the action violates their First Amendment rights, stating that the government should not limit which news organisations can report from the White House based on their coverage.
The disagreement erupted after President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he was banning the three outlets, accusing them of ‘fake news’ and unfavourable reporting. Reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico were denied access to the White House grounds on Saturday, with their press passes taken or deleted.
The news organisations have filed a complaint in the United States District Court in Washington, D.C., requesting emergency action to restore their access. A hearing might occur as early as this week. The White House had not publicly replied to the complaint at the time of publication.
