Kuwait Expels Two Iranian Diplomats After Missile and Drone Attacks
Kuwait has summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires and formally protested the recent missile and drone attacks, while announcing a reduction in Iranian diplomatic staff and ordering two Iranian diplomats to leave the country within 24 hours.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hamad Suleiman Al-Mashaan delivered an official protest note to Iranian Chargé d’Affaires Hamed Hamid Yaqoubi Far on Wednesday, citing the continued Iranian attacks that targeted civilian and strategic facilities across Kuwait.
The ministry said the latest strikes, launched early Wednesday, hit several civilian sites and key installations, including Kuwait International Airport. The attacks left one person dead, injured dozens of civilians and caused damage to vital infrastructure and diplomatic premises.
Kuwait described the attacks as a grave violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of the UN Charter, international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
Al-Mashaan reiterated Kuwait’s strong condemnation of the attacks and stressed that the country rejects any use of its territory or airspace for hostile actions against another state. He also dismissed Iranian claims related to the attacks as baseless and unsupported by evidence.
The deputy foreign minister affirmed Kuwait’s right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, airspace and territory, and to safeguard its citizens and residents in accordance with international law.
