Qatar on Friday condemned a visit by Israel’s far-right national security minister to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, describing the move as a “dangerous provocation” and a violation of international law.

In a statement issued by the Qatari foreign ministry, Doha denounced what it called the “storming” of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli minister, as well as restrictions imposed on worshippers and actions carried out by Israeli settlers under the protection of occupation forces.

Qatar said the measures represented a “flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law” and accused Israel of attempting to impose a new reality in occupied Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

“The continued violations and repeated provocations will fuel cycles of violence and escalation in the region,” the ministry said, warning that such actions undermine efforts aimed at achieving de-escalation and stability.

The ministry stressed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is “a place of pure worship for Muslims” and said all unilateral measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem were “null and void under international law.”

Doha also urged the international community to take “urgent action” to compel Israel to halt violations against Palestinians and their holy sites and to comply with international resolutions.

Qatar reiterated its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, calling for an end to the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
