Indian PM’s UAE Visit Delivers Major Energy, Defence and AI Agreements

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in United Arab Emirates on Friday, marking the first stop of his six-day multi-nation diplomatic tour, with a ceremonial welcome led by UAE President HRH Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

As Prime Minister Modi’s aircraft entered UAE airspace, it was escorted by military aircraft in a special gesture of welcome before landing in Abu Dhabi, where Sheikh Mohamed personally received the Indian leader at the airport.

During delegation-level talks, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, with discussions focusing on key sectors including energy, investment, supply chains, technology, artificial intelligence, food security, defence, and space cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi described the UAE as his “second home,” highlighting the deep people-to-people and strategic ties between the two nations. He also thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the warm reception and said he looked forward to advancing bilateral cooperation across priority sectors.

During the discussions, Modi strongly condemned any targeting of the UAE amid the ongoing regional conflict and expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership for ensuring the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the region.

The two leaders also witnessed the exchange of several major agreements and memoranda of understanding, including strategic energy partnerships between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Indian energy firms, a defence cooperation framework, an advanced AI and supercomputing collaboration, maritime and shipbuilding partnerships, and major cross-border investment commitments.

The visit underscores the growing strategic, economic, and geopolitical partnership between India and the UAE, as both countries continue expanding cooperation across regional and global priorities.
