Russian Missile and Drone Strike on Kyiv Kills One and Injures Over 30 in Overnight Attack

Kyiv: A large-scale Russian aerial assault struck Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Thursday, killing at least one person and injuring more than 30 others, according to city authorities and France24 reports.

The overnight attack involved missiles and drones that hit residential buildings and critical infrastructure across the city, causing fires, structural damage, and widespread disruption. Emergency services worked through the night to rescue residents and clear debris from affected areas.

Officials said several districts in Kyiv were impacted, with some apartment blocks damaged in direct strikes. Power and water services were also temporarily disrupted in parts of the capital as a result of the bombardment.

The strikes are part of an intensified wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine in recent weeks, marking one of the heaviest periods of aerial warfare since the start of the conflict in 2022.

Ukrainian authorities condemned the attacks as deliberate targeting of civilians, while rescue operations and damage assessments continued into the morning.

Despite Ukrainian air defense systems intercepting a significant number of incoming drones and missiles, some weapons still reached their targets, causing casualties and destruction in the heart of the capital.
