Berlin: Authorities stated on Wednesday that German prosecutors have accused a paediatrician of 130 instances of child sexual abuse and rape, allegedly committed over the course of more than ten years while working at clinics close to Berlin.
The 46-year-old physician is suspected of abusing children at medical centres in the Brandenburg towns of Rathenow and Nauen between December 2013 and November 2025. His identity has not been made public due to German privacy regulations.
The charges, according to Potsdam prosecutors, include rape and serious sexual abuse of children. Since November of last year, the suspect has been held pending trial because if he is released, he may commit the same crime again.
The investigation began after the mother of a child victim reported suspected exploitation at a clinic in Rathenow. Later, authorities extended their investigation to find potential victims and seized multiple digital storage devices.
During the time of the alleged offences, the paediatrician worked for the healthcare provider Havelland Kliniken.
The Potsdam regional court has now been entrusted with deciding whether to start a formal trial.
